Festival Director and Event Manager - Passion Tasting Festival
In March 2010 we ran a festival in Maleny on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland where Jill was the Festival Director and Gavin was the Event Manager. This was a wonderful time where our organisational and people skills were tested and passed.
Volunteering In South Africa - Looking After Lion & Tigers
We both love animals, and when we had the chance to look after lion and tigers in a breeding park in South Africa we jumped at it. It was an amazing time where we were responsible for feeding, cleaning up after and playing with lion and tiger cubs from 6 days to 7 months old. We also organised the rest of the park which consisted of 150 bigger cats of varying ages and breeds, ducks and monkeys. Additional tasks included keeping the volunteering and guest accommodation clean and tidy and running the park tours for local and international visitors.
Volunteering In Tanzania - Teaching English and Business Principles
We spent August & September of 2010 in Tanzania. There we taught English to pre-school kids which aged between 2 and 5 years. The school we were at had 150 students with 75 in each class. It was an exciting time and a total insight into other cultures and unique ways of doing things. In addition to that we used our business and coaching experience to teach business and life principles at an afternoon class for the local Masai, and gave back by helping out at the local orphanages.
Bali Cultural Experience 2009
In 2009 we went to Bali where we immersed ourselves in the culture and lifestyle. We stayed at home stays for the most part and really got to know the families and communities, celebrate the local festivals and partake in our favorite activities of traveling, living in new places, scuba diving and meeting new people.
Brisbane To Melbourne and Back - Road Trip
